Distinguishing between healthy diets for adults and children
The “childen” are watching…even when it comes down to what one eats. You are their example, so should we distinguish between healthy diets between adults and children? No. Here is what I’ve found:
Eat in moderation. I remember watching my older brother down a bag of chips. I saw such enjoyment there. When I got old enough to buy my own stuff guess what I did? I even remember having thoughts of “I am so able to eat all of this…it won’t affect me, I can handle it cause I am healthy.” Things do have a way of catching up with you. I am not so healthy now.
Have some discipline. I would go to my sister-in-laws house for the day when I was younger. She made the best cookies. “You can have two,” she said. Two? At my house, mom makes cookies and they are being picked up by the “ouch!” hot handful and with five brothers the first batch was gone in minutes. Mom worked hard to keep up.
Our cravings were satisfied. I am not so healthy now.
Make wise choices. When you know in your heart that veges are good for you, but you choose the junk instead just because they taste better or you crave them, watch out…things may not turn out the way you want in the near future. Don’t deceive yourself. I did. I am what I eat, and I am taught by my families influences. I am not so healthy now.
But…I can change. As I understand and realize the importance of eating right, and work on it each day, (remembering that each day is a new day if I failed yesterday) I am finding something very interesting… I see my children doing the same. I hear the older members in my family talk about my change of eating habits. I am seeing them change little by little too. The point is…whether we are young or old, our bodies operate the same. We have bodies that need same good food. I know. I am not so healthy now…but I starting to feel better.
